ITEMS TO STORE

1. What can I store?

You can think of our storage solutions as a ‘one stop shop’ to your storage need, and falls into 4 categories:
a) CHOOSE TO STORE IN OUR COMPLIMENTARY STORAGE CONTAINERS:
You can store your own personal belongings in the storage containers that we drop off at your place. Most customers use these as a ‘second closet’, stuffing them with clothes (winter clothes are very popular), toys, games, holiday decorations, books, papers (old bank statements, tax filings and receipts are very popular), or any keepsakes that you don’t necessarily need on a daily basis.
And, we offer to pick up and drop off, whenever you want to change the content of the containers, e.g. change from winter to summer storage, and vice versa.

b) CHOOSE TO STORE IN OUR COMPLIMENTARY WARDROBE BOXES:
Pack your favorite suits, winter jackets or summer clothes (most customers rotate the content seasonally… and we pick up and drop off whenever you want to change the content of the wardrobe.

c) LET US PICK UP INDIVIDUAL ITEMS:
We can pick up individuals items like bikes, golf and hockey bags, snow gliders and toboggans, kayaks, artificial christmas trees, and certain furniture. Most customers store a few items like dining tables and chairs, patio furniture, mattresses, beds, dressers.

Please let us know if you have an item not listed on our website and we’ll gladly answer if we can store it or not.

d) YOUR OWN CARDBOARD MOVING BOXES:
If you already have packed your belongings into your own cardboard moving boxes, then we will gladly pick them up and store them for you. We will pick them up. Most of our customers will store the same things in their own cardboard boxes as in the container boxes.

2. What can I store in the storage containers/boxes?

Most people use our containers as a ‘second closet’. It can be a rotation of seasonal stuff like storing winter clothes in summer and summer items in winter. And, you can store books, paper, documents, holiday decor, baby clothes, camping supplies and accessories.

Please note that your bin should not exceed 18 kgs or 39 lbs, otherwise you will get charged a minimum of $24.95 for transportation charges.

3. What should I not put in the containers/boxes?
Anything flammable, breakable, edible or illegal.
4. Can I store Furniture; Chairs | Mattress | Dresser | Sofa | Table | Bed | Desk?

Yes. Please visit the Get Started option on the menu bar and start entering the items you would like to store. Also note that All furniture drawers must be emptied before we pick up for storage.

5. Can I store lamps, glass, mirrors, plates and other fragile items?

No, it is not recommended to store items of highly breakable nature.

6. Does Valet Depot provide suitcases?

No. But we will gladly store your own suitcases.

7. Can I store my own cardboard boxes?

Yes, absolutely. However, please note that the cardboard boxes must be in mint condition and not visibly dirty or ripped. We like to keep our warehouse clean, as do all of our customers, so any items visibly dirty might be refused by our staff at pickup location.

8. Are some items exempt from insurance?
Yes, pressed wood furniture, usually purchased from Ikea, Walmart or Economax etc. can not be guaranteed. They are usually fragile and can be poorly assembled. This makes their transportation and delivery risky.

ORDERING PROCESS

9. How do I place an order?
1. Please click on ‘Get Started’ on our website
2. First fill in the order form by selecting the type and quantity of storage boxes and / or items you would like to store.
3. Fill in your name and pickup information.
4. Then select the date and time you want us to drop off the storage boxes and/or pick you your items.
5. If you think you will need more than 15 minutes to pick up your stuff, please select the date and time you want the driver to return to collect the items.
6. Once you have filled in the order form, you will be prompted for your billing information
7. Please note that your credit card will not be charged before the driver has been at your place and collected the items you will be storing. So, if you don’t know how many boxes or items you want to store, it is ok to order more than you think you need. Adjustments will be made to your order once the driver has picked up your final storage needs.
10. What if I don’t know how many boxes I need?

Not a problem. Go ahead and order as many boxes as you think you need. You will only be charged for the ones being used and the driver will readjust the final count once he returns to our storage facility. Your credit card will not be billed before we have a final count of stored items at our warehouse.

11. Can I choose the day for you to come and drop off containers and wardrobe boxes and/or pick up my belongings?

Absolutely. Please use our online calendar to select the day you want us to come and pick up your items and/or drop off the storage containers/boxes. Standard booking requires a 48 hours prior notice. Please note dates requested are subject to driver availability.

NB: When the driver delivers the storage bins to you if you do not return them immediately, you will be charged a $ 9.99 fee when he picks them up. If you keep the storage boxes for more than a week you will pay the monthly storage for them.

12. Can I choose a specific time of day for pickup and delivery?

Yes you can select if you want us to arrive in the morning (8a-12p), afternoon (12p-5pm) or we are open until 5 pm. Please note dates requested are subject to driver availability.

13. Do you wait for me while I pack containers and wardrobe boxes, or you will come back later?

This is your choice completely. The driver can wait in the truck 15 minutes while you get your items packed. Or, you can select the option to have the driver come back at your convenience, even on another day if you want. PLEASE NOTE! FOR LARGER PICKUPS REQUIRING 2 PEOPLE TO LOAD THE TRUCK, THE PICKUP FEE STARTS AT $24.95.

14. What happens if I am not able to pack my belongings in 15 minutes (filling the containers, wardrobe boxes, or getting my items ready)?

Not a problem. Take your time. The driver will come back whenever you want. Select the option of ‘pick up later’ when you book your order online, or simply tell the driver when he arrives at your place. We will call you back to confirm the pickup day/time. Please note dates requested are subject to driver availability.

15. How do I get my items back again?

Whenever you want your belongings back, all or partial, please call us at (514) 370-5757 or send an email to sales@valetdepot.ca. Please give us a 48 hours notice for the driver to plan the delivery of your items. Please note dates requested are subject to driver availability. Delivery starts at $9.99.

When the driver delivers the storage bins to you if you do not return them immediately, you will be charged a $ 9.99 fee when he picks them up. If you keep the storage boxes you will continue to pay the monthly storage fees for them.

If you prefer, you can also visit our warehouse and collect your belongings. Please be advised there will be a handling fee for preparing your items for pickup. Please give us 48 hours notice to be able to prepare and have the items ready for you. If there is a rush, please call us at (514) 370-5757 and we may be able to arrange an express preparation for you (fees apply).

16. Can you pick up my items today? Tomorrow

We kindly ask for a 48 hours notice as standard operation, but if you call us at (514) 370-5757 we may be able to arrange an express pickup (fees apply).

17. Can I change my pick up/ delivery time ?

If the pick up/ delivery time change is made more than 48 hours before the scheduled hour, we will gladly change the time. If the change request is made less than 48 hours before the pick up /delivery, we will cancel the order and place another one (cancellation fees will be applied). Please note that the new pick up/delivery time will happen at least 48 hours after your request.

STORAGE SERVICE

18. I’m looking for storage. Can you give me more information about the service you offer?

Valet Depot is a full service storage company.

* We come to you and pick up your stuff (we do the heavy lifting)
* We bring the items to our safe, secure warehouse in Montreal
* We deliver the items back to your doorsteps when you want them back
* We store item by item and box by box and you only pay for what you store

19. Are you a moving company – can you help with moving?

No. Valet Depot is not a moving company, but rather a storage company.

* We come to you and pick up your stuff
* We store in our safe, secure warehouse
* We bring back your belongings when you want them back

If you need any storage – we store item by item and box by box. You only pay for what you store (as compared to renting a self-storage locker you might not fill up completely). Please be aware that you must pay for a minimum of one month storage.

20. Is there a minimum?
Yes, there is a 1 month minimum storage fee, but no minimum on the items. You can store just 1 item if you want. Keep in mind that you are billed on a monthly basis even if you decide to store for just a few days or weeks.
21. Can I store also for long term, or is this only for short term storage?
There is no minimum or maximum storage terms. You can store a few days, a few weeks, monthly or yearly. Keep in mind that you are billed on a monthly basis even if you decide to store for just a few days or weeks.
22. Where do you store my stuff?
We bring your items to our safe, secure warehouse storage facility in Montreal. We have 2 locations, one in Lasalle and one in Mile-End.
23. Is it stored in a safe place? Secure? Temperature controlled environment?
Yes, very safe. So safe that the Government, banks, lawyers and large international companies store with us. We adhere to the strictest regulations in the storage industry, and have been for more than 25 years. The warehouse is heated and off limits to anyone other than our staff. There are cameras, pass codes and alarm systems preventing any unauthorized individual access to your stored belongings.
24. Do I have access to the warehouse where my items will be stored?

No. We don’t allow anyone inside the warehouse. But, you are more than welcome to visit our location and we’ll gladly have one of our authorized staff collect your items for you. Please allow us 48 hours notice to make it easier for us to plan the work. Please be advised there will be a handling fee for preparing your items for pickup.

Rush pickup and delivery service is available, but for a fee.

25. Can I drop off my items at your location?

Yes, absolutely. You are more than welcome to personally drop off your items at our warehouse. Ideally, please give us 48 hours notice to prevent any unnecessary delays for you at the warehouse. Please be advised there will be a handling fee for preparing your items for pickup.

26. How do I get my stuff back?

You can call us at (514) 370-5757 or email at sales@valetdepot.ca to let us know when you want us to deliver the items back. Delivery starts at $9.99 for returning your items directly to your door. PLEASE NOTE! FOR LARGER PICKUPS/DELIVERIES REQUIRING 2 PEOPLE TO LOAD THE TRUCK, THE PICKUP FEE STARTS AT $24.95.

If you wish to pick up your items at our facility, please be advised there will be a handling fee for preparing your items for pickup. We require 48 hours notice.

27. Can I come to the storage facility and pick up the items myself?

Yes, but please give us 48 hours notice. Please be advised there will be a handling fee for preparing your items for pickup.

28. Does it cost anything to get my stored items returned to me?

Delivery starts at $9.99 for returning your items directly to your door. PLEASE NOTE! FOR LARGER PICKUPS/DELIVERIES REQUIRING 2 PEOPLE TO LOAD THE TRUCK, THE PICKUP FEE STARTS AT $24.95.

There is a handling fee involved if you want to pick up the items at our warehouse, but please give us 48 hours notice.

29. Can I request 1 or more items back or have to get all or nothing?

Yes, you can have 1 or more or all of your items returned. Just call us at (514) 370-5757 or email at sales@valetdepot.ca to let us know when you want us to deliver the items back.

30. Are you open 24/7?

No. We are open during regular business hours Monday to Friday from 9:00 am – 5:00pm. However, we have extended hours for our pickup and delivery service, which are Monday to Friday from 9:00 am-10:00pm, and on Saturday and Sunday from 9am – 5pm.

31. What if I cancel my order? What’s your Cancellation Policy?

If you cancel your pickup or delivery order with more than a 24 hrs notice (or more), there is no cancellation fee. If you cancel your pickup or delivery with less than 24 hrs notice of the pickup/delivery date/time, there is a cancellation fee equal to the greater of $25 or 50% or quoted pickup or delivery fee.

32. Can I request an item back the same day?

No, not usually. We appreciate a 48 hours notice. However, a rush order might be possible, but we will charge a rush-order fee. Please call us at (514) 370-5757 or email at sales@valetdepot.ca to let us know when you want us to deliver the items back.

33. What happen if the stored item cannot fit into my new entrance?

After discussing with the driver and yourself, there will be two options available to you. First option: we can bring it back to our facility and you will be charged the monthly storage fee plus the transportation charges back to the warehouse. Second option: the driver can leave it outside your door for you to move it in by yourself.
